Story
I was completely surprised by this film, it was excellent!
The casting was perfect, the lead actor gave a badass and realistic portrayal of a young man who is having an extremely tough time with his life! Shrimp’s appearance and behavior are disturbing but absolutely realistic in portraying the poverty and desperation of a working class kid on Chicago’s rough South Side. I am very impressed with his performance and also with almost every other member of the cast – they evoked real emotions in me.
This was a surprising delight of a film!
The plot is based on an old Native American custom but with a very surprising twist – the sin eater was ALWAYS punished but only after death. In this film, the punishment begins on the first day and includes an accumulation of sins of previous sin eaters! Excellent plot, implementation of this plot with great acting in all areas!
