Also, Gaga discusses how she embraced and stayed in her dark persona
Story
Struggling with his dual identity, failed comedian Arthur Fleck meets the love of his life, Harley Quinn, while incarcerated in Arkham State Hospital. Lady Gaga, Brendan Gleeson, and writer-director Todd Phillips share what scared them most about working on the musical sequel . The film’s subtitle, “Folie a Deux,” translates to “The Madness of Two” in French. This initially led to speculation that Harley Quinn would appear in the film, which was soon confirmed. The name Folie a Deux comes from 19th-century French psychiatrists Charles Lasègue and Jules Falret. The term was coined to refer to two or more people who share the same madness or delusion.
It is also known as Lasègue-Falret syndrome
A jury official mistakenly refers to the “People of New York”; instead of Gotham City.. Arthur Fleck: [Written as a mean autograph with a sad face] I hope you get cancer. The film opens with the Looney Tunes title sequence with the Warner Bros. logo surrounded by rings and the Joker’s face. Featuring the crazy cartoon cast of AniMat: Wicked Discovery of a Lifetime (2022). Merrily We Roll Along written by Eddie Cantor, Murray Mencher, and Charles Tobias.
Their personalities change
Rating 6/10 Watched September 30 2024 @ Fan First release (first viewing)Format: (digital) IMAX Todd Phillips repeats exactly what he did with The Hangover trilogy with Joker 2. The director creates a sequel that is unfortunately empty and lacks character development. Phillips has outdone himself by directing a film that has outstanding cinematography/visualizations that capture every feeling and emotion he wants to tell and express. BUT it failed to create a compelling storyline. From part 1 to part 2 the characters in the movie usually change. Their arc either decreases or increases.
Events/obstacles come their way to change their lives
OR new characters enter their lives which opens the door for more interesting events to come their way resulting in a “Folie à Deux”. In this movie the life of Joker/Arthur Fleck doesn’t seem to change much with the addition of Lee, Gaga’s character. Instead the movie keeps repeating events by going back to the past (the first Joker movie) or reacting to certain scenes. It keeps going back to the same places and events in the movie itself. The result is an overall boring movie that is ONLY visually entertaining. The movie introduces two main characters in the Gotham world, Harvey Dent played by Harry Lawtey is terrible and is even worse written.
But the song choices weren’t great
By the end of the movie I felt like he was useless and exploited for his “name”; in the comic book fandom. Same goes for Lady Gaga’s Lee, who just felt like he wasn’t in the movie at all. I liked how the movie uses music/songs to show that it’s an ESCAPE from our inner selves. On the other hand, their performance was well done by Gaga, Joaquin Phoenix and the cinematography skills of Lawrence Sher.
